Bob Adams Foundation

The Bob Adams Foundation started in 1983 in honor of Bob Adams, a Saskatchewan Olympian as an athlete, coach, and official who spent years building and developing Track and Field in the Province of Saskatchewan.  As a former Olympic decathlete, Adams developed a human legacy of modest profile and commanding presence.  He was a central figure in the formation of the Saskatoon Track and Field Club and the birth of the Knights of Columbus Indoor Games.  Bob was also responsible for Saskatoon’s continuing growth and respected reputation in track and field at the national and global levels.

His work in recent years has been largely in the administration and organizational vein. And it was in such capacities – overseeing the city high school meet stands as a prime example – that the Adams spirit could best be appreciated. No task was too menial, no job too large. He would be the first to arrive and the last to leave. The spirit never wavered.

The Bob Adams Foundation is dedicated to the development of the intellectual, moral, and physical skills of people through their involvement in athletics. Towards this end, the Foundation supports Track and Field athletes pursuing post secondary education, supports officials as they work to improve their standing, and provides financial assistance for coaching development.

“I like the idea,” says Adams, “but the fact my name is attached to it doesn’t really matter. Helping the sport in it’s pusuit of excellence is all I’m interested in.”

“There’s a word in the Greek language,” Adams said, “arete. It means excellence in a broad context. Excellence athletically, intellectually and high-moral standard. That’s where I got the idea for the (foundation) theme.”

Thank you Bob!
